When we were stuck in traffic in Mumbai, in this area of the city by the Arabian Sea, night began to fall. I started taking photos of the taxis I had tried to capture that whole day as we drove around. These Malad taxis are everywhere. This painting was a joy to paint. I used a limited palette (gamboge, quinacridone red, phtalo blue/green shade, a touch of quinacridone gold and opera pink).
