I painted this painting after visiting Santa Fe’s Canyon Road.  I saw the poppies in a courtyard in front of a gallery.  I climbed over the fence into the courtyard and took the picture I then painted from.  I almost called this painting “Brush With the Dark Side” or “Fleur de Laudanum.”
