This is from Sally and Bob Evans’ garden. They live a few blocks from me. I have been running past their yard for years and noticing the fruit trees over the walls. One summer afternoon I rang their doorbell and asked if I could take some photographs to paint from. They were really nice to me, sending me off with a bag of ripe nectarines. I took two rolls of film and have painted at least eight paintings from this garden. The plums in this painting were not ripe yet, so they look lighter in color than when they are ripe. I got a 1st place in watercolor in the Fine Arts Gallery at the New Mexico State Fair for this. I also showed it in a Masterworks of New Mexico exhibition.
