My neighbor Tami Wellford called me to tell me that she was growing these incredible passion flowers in her back yard and that each bloom only lasts for a day.  One afternoon, I took my camera and my ladder and took the photograph I based this on.  The flowers are on a creeping vine and they were up in a tree.  I had been taking photos of these flowers in Asheville, North Carolina, for the past two summers and had not been able to get a good one to paint from.  Later, when I was painting this, I had questions about the colors, so Tami brought me a bloom in water.  These flowers are tiny and very delicate.
